this is shocking to read.

I think that a restriction should come into force for new drivers - the same as there is with mopeds and motorbikes.

only allowed so much power until you have passed the next set of criteria and experience of handling a vehicle with more power. but having said that any car even a 1L metro can do serious damage when driven irresponsibly.

really feel for the young girls parents - gone for a night out, minding her own business only to never return home due to some total idiots actions. I have kids of my own and i would want to inflict some serious pain on that driver

Interestingly spoke to someone who saw the whole scene - based on there views - they saw the car sitting outside the pub reving it's engine - it then shot up the road towards town, did a U-turn and came back at speed - clipped the central island and plowed into the kids.

The driver stayed at the scene initally - he was quite badly injured facially - he asked his friend what should he do - when the witness turned around to look again the driver was running off.

also beleived from the witness that the driver had been drinking.

So based on the fact that the driver was drinking it doesn't really matter what laws we have put place - they had already been broken.

Still so sad - there is quite a shrine outside ours - it's being visited daily and the candles lit.

Real shame, I feel for the parents of all the victims/innocent... Hope the driver gets the maximum penalty, but I suspect that will be rubbish sentence too.

I saw the candles lit last night - looked real nice and peaceful considering where it is, and why it's there.

It frustrates me that he's being treated with kid gloves (so i've read but haven't kept on top of it) but yet he's just past his test and should be fully aware of the law and thats not including the numerous drink driving campaigns.

How many times do you see a young driver ragging the boll#cks off a 1.2l fiesta/corsa etc, they don't actually get anywhere quicker but its seems to take them a few years for them to realise this :?

Thing is I bet we were all there ragging our 1.1's when we were 17. I had a 1.3 fiesta and ragged it to death!. saying that I saw it the other day being driven by some old fella round wymondham - so I can't have been that heavy on it. My god I've just figured my old fiesta is now 22 years old .... gawd !!.
