I feel your pain mate, Im doing a Btec and we just get the criteria required then have to do all our own research. Just make sure you include a bibliography with the links you have used and the date you looked at :)

Gentlemen, thank you. Some of the links were very useful. I guess my frustrations are borne of a lack of ultimate control. If I were the one asking my staff to do this, I would have ensured that details such as these were dealt with.

Good ideas about the referencing Woody

No probs mate, dont know anything about your subject or marking critiera but my assesors do not like to see references from wikipidea etc as this can easily be false but love ac.uk websites as these are all factually true! Good luck!

Hello Stuart, sorry to see that you are struggling with the misguided NVQ regardless of level. I used to write these things on B.E.S. and Construction a few years ago when I worked for CITB; the awarding body and the organisation who provided the course material should have resource material available.

However as NVQs are based on flexible and modular performance outcomes and utilise a Criteria Referenced Instruction (CRI) basis they leave it pretty much to you to find the relevant documents but at the very least they should provide details of documents that are needed to meet the perormance outcome

Understand if what i have written is thought to be a load of old Bollocks in which case look forward to seeing you at the first meet

Best wishes for 2010
Harry

Thanks Harry, not bollocks at all and I think your summary is spot on; the awarding body do indeed seem happy to leave us to our own devices at this stage.

I had an appraisal on Tuesday and agreed to tackle this project head on on the basis that I felt it was sub-standard in its current form. Emails will be flying around next week to try to get this mandatory training back on track :)
