How can you say the interior in an M3 is poor?
Toy: 550+ Subaru Impreza Wagon

The scratch resistance of the door grab handle is very poor....
Seems to be damaged on all 3 series BMW's
The general interior in my opinion is not up to the quality of the S4.
But like many things i guess it's subjective. unlike you guys i've not driven them for long periods to get a better perspective...

I think i'm swinging to the M3 though....

I've been a passenger in an M3 and an RS4. The RS4 was leaps and bounds ahead in terms of quality and comfort, looks and feel of the materials. Lovely place to be sat in.

The M3 i sat in was very spartan inside with lots of light coloured plastics everywhere, and the only redeeming feature was the leather seats which i thought were very good (but you can get decent leather seats in a Scooby).

Although i have no doubts the materials are better quality than found inside a Subaru (to be fair modern Skoda interiors are better quality and better bolted together than a Subaru), and no doubt the bimmer is more solidly bolted together inside, the interior feel wasn't brilliant, and there was too much garish bright plastic everywhere but carpet was OK.

I was expecting something more upmarket for such a high quality car, and i felt very disspaointed with it .

I didn't think overall it was much better than a Scooby. You don't buy a Scooby for the interior and i wouldn't buy an M3 for the interior either!! If i wanted nicer bimmer interior it would have to be a 5 or 6 series but then i would probably buy an Audi S6 or S8 instead.

It's all about personal preference.

Mike is talking about the S4 Francis.

I seem to think you are swaying to the Audi Mike, they are both great cars.... but the M3 gives you that little bit extra and will cope admirably with a few laps round the 'ring too 8)

My mate Simon (amessimon on here) has a 52 plate M3 with all the interior goodies but the standard 18" wheels instead of the optional 19s.

I've had a go driving it and it is great, the engine note just lovely in the upper reaches of the rev range, and the seats are a great place to be. The composure of the car on the road is excellent too, it never quite feels as fast as it's going in reality, which often is quite quick!

I'd take a M3 over a S4 Avant personally, as long as the paint and interior colours were right - BMW do some horrible combinations!

Cheers,
Alex
