[quote="Gerry H"]Now there's another one on S/net. Guy put his RA into a garage for a new clutch. Road tested by the garage and now has a rod through the block.

Garage agreed to do the labour for free. With forged internals the bill would be

yeah i agree with that i suppose, the internet is a dangerous thing. they might be a totally straight up company that have just made one silly mistake, and everyone is draging there name through the mud.

but i bet he is going to be abit careful next time he does a test drive :)

exactly .. who knows .. sometimes I worry on behalf of the original poster also - I wonder how many times someone posts on their own forum - only to find it suddenly being passed around the forums .. and then to realise they'd said a bit to much etc .. (I'm not using this instance as an example) - I was thinking more of that bloke who posted on his local site about the crash of his R32 GTS-T - only to become the most hated man in the uk for a week!! ... and wanted by the police.

The forums are a powerful tool.. in a good and bad way.

Why would you want it - if it's a write off - it's a write off - and i'm bet 50 quid there will be no choice parts for you to salvage.

my first car was a Nova GTE back in 1992, which i had someone drive into the back of it, eventually i got the car booked into an offical Vauxhall dealership to be fixed, the car was away for approx 1 month, during that time, a number of friends had seen the car actually out on the forecourt with a price sticker in the window...i got in touch with the garage and they said it was a genuine mistake!!

anyhow it gets worse...... they delivered the car back to me but when the car actually appeared the car was limping, turned out the cambelt had literally snapped he was still trying to drive it!!!...while i understand its not usually the garage's fault...read on......about a month after that i started getting hassle from the police as they said the car had been seen driving out of a garage without paying for fuel, after weeks of hassle from the police i was able to prove that i was working when each offence occurred (yeah it happened twice) turns out one of the employees had taken a liking to my car and had been using it i got a cambelt change and a few other bits out of them free of charge, literally weeks later the place shut down.....hardly surprising really if this is how they treat their customers cars
