Sad thing is you do get used to the threat at NU, however this time they are binning alot of people,

for example 32 people - 14 jobs - so at least 18 are out from my area alone.

Yeah I had to apply for my job last year, it is becoming a regular thing.

There are a lot of perks working there though.

Didnt realise you were under a reorg also Alex.

About extra staff - insurance apparently goes through a 7 year cycle ... basically they want to increase their profit margins by reducing their cost's ... staff are costs ...

What will happen (my prediction) - in 6 months time we will be re-employing loads of contractors at twice the price to enable NU to cope with all the problems that occurred due to reducing the staff and losing the skill base.

There is no logic, in my area we are struggling to cope with demand with the people we've got! ...

You could move to India. NU have their customer services there. That's why I don't use NU and will switch from the RAC next year.

Opening a can of worms, NU actually have more UK based call centre staff than Off shore.

And to stick up for NU, policies may cost more, but you get proper support in the event of an accident, I was hit by an NUJ insured driver and the service was second to none.

My car would be insured with them if they actually understood what a GTR or what a modification was.

As to RAC, can't speak more highly about the service, I was with AA and it was awful - I left AA after the roadside fella told me "You are some sort of fool to have a car like this and not have recovery" - then left without even attempting a diagnoses .... it was a lose earth strap!.

I can only speak from experience. Maybe where you get on the other end of the line is pot luck?

The motor insurance co. I was with a couple of years ago was bought out by NU who then refused to renew. They don't know much about Scoobies either.

Cherry picking for more profit :(

I switched to Tesco as a result of their excellent service when one of their customers hit my parked car. Seems you get better treatment, as a victim with them, than as a customer.
