Just curious... What tyres are you lot running for the trip?

I was about to order some Toyo R888's but IF I come on the trip!! I doubt they would last the trip

Any ideas what would be a good competition tyre that is a little harder wearing? I was plannig on doing the Snetterton Day on the same tyres and i think a set of R888's would be close to legal limit after one trackday from what i have read? :? So they definately wouldnt last the trackday and nurburgring and i doubt you can take another set of wheels with you??

Trying to sort out parts at mo and get car up to Nurburgring spec and then see if i have enough money left to do the trip as it looks like i may be on my own if i drive

gonna be running my trusty bridgestone RE070's - they last pretty well and are grippy too

888's will prob not last the trip depending on how many laps and how fast you go around imo.

From reading up, you want either the Michalen Pilot Sports, Yoko AO48 or the new Dunlop DZ1R or summat...

Hopefully I will confirmation of employment for a few more months soon so i can then book up the trip :D Will probably need accomodation for a couple of nights, but I will sort it when i can commit :!:

or even Michelin Pilot Cup Sports, thats what i have, best tyre i have ever used at the Ring. However they do have their drawbacks, cost is one, tyre wear is another, and the most important thing is that you should NEVER EVER go out in the rain or when the track it is damp.

Hope this helps

Ok, thanks for the help, trying to find some prices on the Michelins but very hard to get info on them.. Other tyre im considering is the Hankook RS2, Ive been told its designed more for wet track use but is a very competent tyre, might last a bit longer than the Toyo too!..
Thanks

I imagine he means to stay away from a damp track with those tyres, if you see the tread pattern you will see why! Not much of a wet tyre but look very good in the dry and got a few great reviews and used by some crazy track cars!

Ive been told this a few times now when enquiring about track tyres and a few people have spoke to me like you'd expect your dad to about not to use them on the road as they can be very dangerous

Stu, when i bought these tyres from Ring-Racing this is the one thing they told me not to do. Just as it happens the following day it was raining not heavy but just drizzling and i decided NOT to take their advise.................big mistake, the car had nearly, or no grip at all so after that i never go out when the Ring is wet / damp. If you are unlucky enough to be out there when the weather is not at its best, you will notice most of the cars with these tyres on are just parked up waiting for the track to dry out.
