im thinking along the same lines of you trev,
brands hatch is a power track, id likede them to do a back to back test at oulton park
or at donington park were you have quick corners and twisty stuff.
also how many laps did they do and was there a indipendent assesser?

The general consensus of opinion on the TA forum seems to be that the Pirellis aren't as good as the Toyos form those who've "used both" but who knows till you drive both back to back on your own car? Still, everyone in the same boat in terms of tyre performance.

Bigger concern seems to be what the series deal price will be, I haven't heard what price competitors can buy the control tyre at yet which isn't encouraging what with the entry costs this year...

Still no info and people are really starting to get stressed about it. Some competitors have already sold their 888's and now have no tyres to test with. We were thinking about selling ours to use the money for the new ones, but also want to do another days testing so not quite sure what to do.

As you're not competing this year, why worry? Anything could happen between this season and next. I'd wait buddy.

They are road tyres.......

Yes, everyone will be on the same tyre so it's still a level playing field. However 'It's not racing - It's Time Attack'. The fastest lap wins so you put on your qualifing tyres.

The 2 main areas od discontent on the forum are;

1. People have spent a lot of money building their cars to go as fast as possible and they dont have any faith in these tyres.......Would you fit P Zero's to your track car...

2. Pricing...people have already found cheaper tyres on the net, than the offer through TA.

Spoke to Alan about it and his reply was class.

'OK their shit, people have had their moan about them but it's what we've been given, so stop bitching and get on with it.'

It's funny that these are road tyres as unlike the 888's these tyres will NEVER see the road, not at those prices......

IGNORE LAST POST

:cuss::banghead::cuss:

Just had email from TA about tyres......how the feck is this a level playing field.

Tyres are Nero, Rosso and P Zero

Given the choice I would opt for the P zero, but we dont have that choice we have to use the fecking Nero the worst out of the 3.........I'm sorry but with over 400bhp i would class our car as high powered. Surely there is a safety issue here.

quote from pirelli site

the ideal tyre for “soft” and “hard tuning” conversions, it meets the needs at the performance and at the “aesthetic” level offering a personal identity to compact cars through to the most powerful luxury saloons
