There are lots of things that could cause the problems you refer to Terry

Software updates- Our Samsungs all needed an update a whie ago and this manifested itself as a blue haze in one corner, only visible on a black background. Their service engineers called aout and it was fixed st
straight away.

Connections- As mentioned above.

Ghosting- Was this during DVD playback or TV usage? Ghosting is a phrase that covers a multitude of sins. If you can be more specific, I may be able to offer more advice.

I would call Samsungs customer service department first ( http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/main/contactcenter.do )and see what their people say.

Keep us posted.

Have a slight delay when people move on the screen causing ghosting. The banding is when watching tv and when the screen is black or in letter box format. The banding also doesn't stick to one place, it is random.

More than one problem I think. The ghosting (if from TV inputs, not DVD or external) is sown to receiving two signals at very similar times, one slightly delayed to the other (hence the delay in what you can see) This could be as simple as one signal coming through the window and one signal coming through your aerial for example. A decent TV engineer can sort this out for you. The banding could be a number of things.......

If you have a local chappie that is well reputed for setting these things up it could be worth a few quid to get a definitve, non-conjecture based opinion. You can always throw the telly out of the window afterwards :thumb:

looks like the cure was to change the view from 16:9 to autowide. Still a tiny bit of ghosting but I think it will settle down (bed in). Now tempted with getting HD so I can get the same quality as in Curry`s. So little channels on Sky with HD I don`t think it`s worth it.

The cloured lines sound like poor earth.

The "ghosting" as you describe it isnt ghosting as such - which is a term used to describe multiple reception path problems with your TV signal which is just a fancy way of saying "many images overlaid" rather then what you describe as "Have a slight delay when people move on the screen causing ghosting" which is infact just classic case "vapour trailing" which is what all widescreen sets used to suffer with. Its down to electronics and the size of the screen. Basically there is only co much information available to make the picture up, whether its a 14"portable or a 40" flatscreen and when the tv's get beyond about 30" they start to "make up" extra dots of image based on whats going on around them. Think of it like a chessboard where only the white squares are transmitted images from the broadcaster and all the black squares are needed to give you a picture big enough to fill up your 40" screen space. The electronics in the set assess what is happening to the white squares and then "guess" what they should fill in the black ones with to makes a seemless picture. The original Phillips 32" widescreen CRT type TV's from 10-15years ago were awful at this and snooker in particular used to look like the sky at night with red and black comets sreaking across a green sky !!!

These days they are much better at doing this although as you get bigger screens in smaller rooms as the cost comes down and particularly with the emergence of LCD sets in large formats and this problem is strating to re-emerge. The simple answer is to check you have all the filters, interpolation setup and so on correct with help from your user guide, secondly check that your set is ok - perhaps take source material thats prone to showing up the fault to the shop where you bought the set from with the same TV as yours. And lastly throw away the LCD and buy a Pioneer plasma like you should have done in the first place !!!

:D :D :D

Hope that helps,

J.
I have issues !!! :ack2:....I used to be average, now I reminisce !!!

Well, rang up curry`s and complained about the TV. After describing the fault they agreed it was FUBARRED! So it`s now getting exchanged for a new one. I popped into the shop to give them an ID number to confirm teh exchange. Whilst I was there she pointed out that the same TV was on offer,
