Fantastic talent that lad has. I agee with the comments about his being similar to certain other driving legends.
AHHHH Bless, what a shame about Alonso though. Couldn't even stay on the track at the first corner. That set a pressident for the rest of the race really
:D Has he shown his true colours when he is really wound up?
In my oppinion what he did when he came back on to the track after his little detour at the first corner was downright dangerous. He nearly took out his team mate for christs sake!!! He should have been given a penalty just for that. he should have waited until it was safe to come back on, no matter how many places he looses.

I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up

Alonso suffered because of his driving style on a growing track. The track surface is a living thing and changes constantly. Alaonso drives deep into the bends using understeer to give the car side bite. When it looses traction on the outside front and is already deep he runs wide. Its a style that serves him well but when the track gets dirty and dusty he is at a loss.

Hang on - is it just me who thinks there is a little to much hype about this fella, i.e. if anyone of us spent every waking moment with our parents supporting our driving / hobbies etc we'd be bloody good... look at the shuey's brothers, convient that their dad owned a gokarting track ...
Yeh well done for winning .. but come on .. stop annoying me!.

Got to agree on that one. Its always the way that top drivers brothers or sons etc go through to the top.murano3 wrote:Hang on - is it just me who thinks there is a little to much hype about this fella, i.e. if anyone of us spent every waking moment with our parents supporting our driving / hobbies etc we'd be bloody good... look at the shuey's brothers, convient that their dad owned a gokarting track ...

Urm.... He is a very talented driver. If you want to know how good he is there is an article online someplace which takes an every day motorsport reporter, a brand new rotax kart, Lewis hamilton and rye house kart track.
The reporter did track days etc and thought he was a good driver. He managed laps of just over 1 Minute. He got down to 50 seconds by the end of the day.
Lewis Hamilton managed a low 36 second lap after a dozen laps from memory. This was in a machine that neither driver had ever driven .
This was a few years ago now but if you entered a rotax max race at Rye house and you cut 36 second laps you would be looking at a comfy win.
Go to a Proper race day and watch some of these kids race. They will take your breath away. It is widely recognised that between the age of 8 and 14 kids develop the basic skills which later become 2nd nature. It is also very rare for anybody who did not race at those age's to be in the top percent later in life. If 100% of people on this forum practised every day for the next 10 years i doubt anybody would be able to drive a f1 car with the skill he does.
At the end of the day it takes more than just knowing where the racing line is. Its about understanding driving and the effects. eg
Early apex, late apex, Apex, Referance points, Braking zones, Rotation, Threshold braking, Trail breaking, Slip angle, brake turning, constant radious corners, decreasing radious corners, heel and toe, exit speed, Dump shift, etc etc etc..
