Just booked my first Track Day :)

Whey! The time has come and I've just booked my first track day with Track Action at Snetterton for Tuesday 3rd March.

Gonna be doing a Check List for the day,i don't want to miss anything out. (this is where you guys come in).

Driving Licence (is just the Card part acceptable?)
Helmet
Tools
Spare Supercharger Belt
Tyre Pressure Gauge (need advice on which pressures)
Fuel (see below)

Water and Snacks

Obviously check all fluids before I set off (i'll check when I get there too). Anything else?

With regards to Fuel,is it worth taking the car's capacity in jerry cans? I know fuel is available at the circuit,but can imagine its very expensive?

I don't wanna get to Lunch time and I've ran outta fuel haha

The plastic card bit of your licence is all that I have ever used
Sunglasses; a must for the low sun in the afternoons, unless you have a tinted visor
Trainers for comfort and pedal feel
Tyre pressures. As it's your first day just run your regular pressure and check them regularly (adjust if necessary)
Coolant
Oil
Tank tape and zipties (just in case)
Water and Snacks
Bring lunch too. The restaurant gets mentally busy and the prices are on the high side although Gary, the manager, is such a legend his prices may just be worth it

Yesm the circuit's fuel is expensive and there's also a question mark about octane ratings. As you have a Shell so close (Albeit in the wrong direction on the A11 but just 4 miles away) I'd definitely suggest filling up elsewhere and bringing some spare fuel too

The only other thing is to go out there and enjoy it. Snetterton is deceptively fast and even with a sub-200bhp car you can expect to see some big speeds so build up slowly. If at all possible try to get some instruction for a session as these guys will increase your safety, consistency and ultimately your speed to

What he said. I know you have done quite a few road miles Chris, but track driving is quite different.
You should really do a novice day first, but as this will be an MX5 day too due to MOT being involved you should be ok, but as Stuart said get some instruction and then build up slowly. You will probably be told in the briefing, but just do 5 or 6 laps at a time to allow you and the car to have a rest.
Aim to get there with around half a tank of fuel if you can bring a couple of jerry cans to refil so you are not carrying loads of extra weight around with you on track.
Tyres pressure management is a science as they will all run at different temperatures so you need to do a few laps, then come in and set the pressures unless you run 100% Nitrogen in which case the pressure difference will be less.

I'd advise that you take the paper counterpart of your license too as I've had the reverse of Stuarts fortune. Always had to produce both parts and was going to be denied track entry bar a shameful name drop of Mr. Spicer. (possibly and age thing, not sure.) Better to have both than have track time refused.

Need to sort out a Fire Extinguisher and a front tow hook too (you never know!)

We've always needed the paper part of our driving license as well as the photo card. Another thing to think about are the brakes as track work is hard on your brakes.

Had new dimpled/grooved discs,pads,hoses and fluid changed about a month ago

Also worth a note is to remember to remove all loose articles from the car and boot. Its normally said in the briefing anyhow but I have had a rouge bottle of water find its way out from under the passenger seat and was impossible to grab with a harness on. Also i know someone else in there haste to get out on track forget to remove a tool box from their boot and ended up with a permanent reminder of their forgetfulness in their quarter panel!

I also remember some twat left their car in gear and started it up from outside, then in a hilarious fashion tried desperately to stop the car before crunching into the pit wall.
