Post by Stuart »

A really cheap day out for those that fancy a paddle :) Log onto Driftworks if you are interested in either watching or driving.

Details to follow.

I noticed you on the list @ Driftworks...........largely because you deleted my details when you copy and pasted the list ;)

See you on Saturday.

Pictures from a very enjoyable day

Fun
Image
mcgldrck2's car
Image
Here is the man himself :) He drove well and never stopped grinning throughout
Image

One of his mates had a gorgeous 350z. He was man enough to give it some toot too
Image Oops
Image
Image He hit the wall pretty hard and was not the only casualty. One of the other new guys wrote his S13 off! No pictures......it seemed impolite.

Most of the cars were Japanese
Image
but there was another classy looking E36 Nato four door
Image
This 320 was already sold on to another guy, due for delivery after the event! That's some confidence :) and just to prove he was driving the car hard
Image
One of my favourite cars of the day
Image
Image
The owner linked the whole damned track

I had a few little bumps....
Image
fortunately my new grinder spec light wings were very easy to pull back out

I got some quick coaching from a genuine World champion.......I would add credibility now by quoting the guys name and his discipline but I can't remember it! Anyway, he said I was doing OK, he liked the car but he said I needed to work on subtlety of input. Not the first time I'd been told about Manfoot and Bladey was there to endorse the fact too. He repeatedly told me to chill out.......that just made me want to do more and more laps......which increased the frustrations of spinning :D Anyway.....the first stage of subtlety
Image Haha
I had my Alpinestars boots but man, that was a muddy place :)

So there we are. Summary as follows
Cheap
Huge fun
Local (ish)
Educational
Going to do it again?
Fuck me, YES

Oh yeah........I was pretty crap and still loved it :)

Genuinely Dan, it was a bit of an eye opener. I only had 4 sessions and a little non-competition non-judged bit so not stacks of seat time. The car was great, the treble eights were mega (officially the World's best tyres :) ) and the more practice I get, the better. I am very firmly of the opinion that getting more comfortable with the cars grip envelope will make me quicker everywhere (Circuits etc) I think Fletch put it best when he said " you'll learn not to over react".........this is paraphrasing him but the gist of it is accurate. I hope to learn not to panic and over use any of the major inputs when the car invariably starts over steering for a number of reasons (including pilot error)

These things run each month so I have plenty of opportunity to practice.

I'll miss the events in December Heath but will be there in January and that's 100% :)

I meant to come and find you to say 'well done' before I left. You were carrying noticeably more speed into the bends and sustaining better angles too. Glad the trusty 32 didn't let you down.
