Well had a great day karting on Sat

After an early start we met at work to catch the minibus down to Rye House raceway, It was like going on a school trip and banter was being thrown around the bus.

There was 6 of us from Britvic Norwich invited to go Karting and driving experinced ranged from 1 guy who races his own Kart to another that had never done anything like this before.

I was glad one of the guys knew his way to the curcuit as it is a knightmare to find!!

On arrival we were quickly filled up with Bacon roll and coffee and we went to watch the previous group on track to try to pick up some lines and learn some of the curcuit.

Whilst watching we noticed that Karts 13, 17 & 21 looked like the quickest Karts and the ones to avoid were 9 and 10!!

We put together a plan to get down to the pits early and take the fast karts before anyone else! We were then handed a list of what the teams were going to be and which karts were to get - I got Kart 9!!!! F**k Sake!!!

During the breif the guy mentioned that we were the only group that ever booked a 2.5 hr endurance there and we must be mad!!

I was teamed with Charlie and he had never even sat in a kart before let alone race one for 2.5 hrs so we were pretty much just there to make sure we didn't come last!!

Qualifing

Charlie went first to get use to the kart and the curcuit and as I was in the kart last I would start the race I absoltuely dragged the ass of the kart round the qualifing and went back to the pits to be told we were 18th out of 22 to say I was a little peaved would be an understatement - maybe we can make up some places in the race?

Race

I'm sat near the back of the grid pressure building before the off then we are given the flag to go!!

Foot flat to the floor and straight to the back of the pack with everyone leaving me behind Fantastic Kart No. 9 Was only running on 1 engine!!! and to top things off I had missed the enterance to the pit so had to go a full lap before getting into the pit to get it sorted by the time I got back out we were 3 laps down!! great start!! I pushed as hard as I could for the rest of the stint and then got a penelty for pushing another kart and cutting the corners!!!

We had to make 5 driver changes through the 2.5 hours and to be fair the standard of driving was very high and very few incidents occured over the time at the end of the race we finished 19th which to be fair with the crap start we had and the crap kart we had I don't think we could have done any better.

I was disapointed not to have had competitive kart as I would like to have had a chance to compare against the better drivers there.

In summary It was a great day and I had alot of fun but it was tainted a bit by Crap Kart No. 9
