Does anyone know what powers my insurer has over getting the car repaired.

Can they say -

either you have it repaired at our approved repairers, or we aint paying out??

Read this page Rob

I think legally they can't force you to go anywhere they specify as long as the company you have chosen is a proper, VAT registered company. They may bicker about costs but that is to be expected.

Just bear in mind who they are recommending; it may be an alternative if you think their work is good enough. What about Chris at H-Tech for example?

I take it the accident will put the car into the 'recorded' file? If so, you need to consider that for any kind of residuals.

Well, I had BMW ring me yesterday to say that the assessor has been to see the car and has accepted the quote which BMW quoted before.

BMW seem to think that they are just waiting for authorisation now from Admiral before they start the work... Still no word from Admiral, but BMW seem to think they will get the go ahead on Friday at the latest.

Ill keep you posted.

Why are insurance companies so SHIT!

Just rang Admiral, they confirmed they had sent authorisation to me in the post and to my repairer 'East Bilney'

Which is all very good, but my car is at BMW!!!!

FFS!!

Turns out they want BMW to complete a tracking check before they will start/order the repairs!
