Bloody expensive and sanitised by the health and safety police now.

I have been to this loads of times and each year it gets more expensive and more restricted on where you can drive, stand or walk.

If you get a good spot (and there still are some) then it is a superb weekend of viewing though.

roughing it is the only way for me, used to go every year in the 90's a few mates used to hire a large transit and kip in that but also been a few times in a car and its alright, great atmosphere on the stages at night with constant fireworks in the mountains, really looking forward to it
me and the mrs will be going without the little un as i cant expect him to rough it
the sounds of the antilag coming through the stage echoing around the mountains and trees is awsome, the weather can also be intresting :-D
i remember one year late 90's it was so foggy you didnt actually see much atall but the sounds made up for it

i dont pay for the passes as they are just a rip off, i pay on the gates (although there are not many stages you can do this now)
i remember when it was a tenner per car per stage with overnight parking, one year we even parked in a farmers field and got on a trailer with straw bails towed by a tractor to get on stage (there was definatly a health and safety issue there  )

Yea it is an expensive weekend, worked out similar money for me and dad to go to Spain and spend the weekend there watching it a few years back..

Defianately still worth going though, you can get so close to the action.. Had Richard Burns give me a thumbs up as he entered a sharp ritght bend on one stage and then proceeded to cover me with mud during drift! Then me and dad were in the scooby late one night between stages and had Burns and McRae come past us, was fun trying to keep up in the twisties.. Had a drag race with Panizzi in his 206 vs dads Scoob! We lost big time! You just dont get the same atmospehere or sense of involvement from any othe motorsport, chasing back to the Service centre to see whose in what position!! Very cold though!

my best experience was when the first day started at silverstone, we went for a wander to the pit area to find the gates open and strolled in to be mixing it with colin in the focus, burns in the 22b impreza, cant remember if kankinen was in an escort cosworth or the other impreza (will have to check pics now) sainz in a corolla etc etc all in the pit lane lined up, funny watching sainz checking everyone elses tyres, got some quality photos with the drivers and cars, shame i have no scanner or i'd post them up.
it was superb meeting kankinen and colin as they were the men in my eyes
