I've just had another look at the spec and although you get a lot for the price it's not a well known manufacturer, and i've never even heard of them. You can buy a 42" Tosh, Samsung, or LG for similar money.

I would prefer a Plasma screen at 42". If you were getting a 37" screen then an LCD HD TV with 1080P would be very good and not cost the earth.

Sony always have had issues with LOPT - their power supplies.

They also cost an absolute fortune to replace, so frankly unless its holds some cherished value I would just junk it and get a new TV - a replacement 32 is probably less than

[quote="ScoobieWRX"]the Aldi TV isn't 1080P. If like me you enjoy watching motorsports and other fast moving sports then you should have 1080P (P=Progressive Scan). It means that fast moving objects on the screen don't ghost as the refresh rate/mode is better. Don't get a 1080i Plasma TV, it's the poor cousin and it's not as good.

Tesco have a really nice Samsung 50" 1080P Plasma screen for

I hear what you're saying about Sky and you're absolutely right but they will get there in time and lots people are now buying into HD DVD players now they have sorted out which foirmat rules, and in any case there are plenty of films about to see in HD format.

I like having a couple of films at the weekend when you're at a lose end and you're not going out anywhere, specially when there's bugger all on TV.

....and don't forget your Playstation and XBox games that will take full advahtage of the HD resolution on a big plasma, especially with 1080p which means your on-screen gameplay will be crystal clear, silky smooth with super high pin sharp resolution, and the picture will be big enough for you drift off and melt into the game. Awesome!!

Next year the BBC get the rights to screen F1 and i have no doubts they will be showing races on BBC HD, and that will be the dogs danglies on a 50" or 60" plasma!!

I love big screens!! :D
