I Have a Garmin Nuvi 350 and have used it here and in France, Spain, Germany and Czech republic and it has never let me down.

So I highly recommend the Garmin :-D

Rob, do you have experience of other satnavs like Tomtom to campare the Garmin with? It was my daughter's birthday recently and she's finally decided she'd like a satnav. This thread has been quite usefull in discussing other systems, well most of it has. :)

I would buy a dedicated TomTom style unit Vectraman. I have both types and being a luddite, much like yourself, I prefer the simpler interface of the TomTom.

Each to their own I guess.

Edited to say that my preference is for the dedicated system over the PDA style. I have no experience of Garmin (beyond one trip) but understand that they are excellent.

Thanks for the reply Rob, my experience of TT and Medion is, both leave room for improvement. Maybe I'll try the Garmin next.
