Un-Britishness

Post by Gerry H »

Un bloody believable :x

The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed "too British".

Organisers of the Olympics say that the Red Arrows military background might be "offensive" to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team "too militaristically British". Red Arrows pilots were said to be "outraged", as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being "too British" is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain.

The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world.

The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular.

It is to be hoped that common sense prevails.

The link below is a petition being raised to let them fly.....

This must be a wind up??

How on Earth can something as simple as an air display be 'too patriotic' for fucks sake?

Can you imagine the Kiwi rugby team not doing the HAKA ceremonial dance before a game because it was deemed offensive?

National pride is, in my opinion, vital to our honour. If we cannot be proud of being British and demonstrating to the World that we are who we are, what's next?

This is hardly a display of how accurate our missiles are by mocking up battle scenes......Great Britain is becoming a joke. People are free to bring their beliefs and traditions to our country but we cannot be seen to offend anybody by our unarmed display team, one of the Worlds finest, thrilling the crowds.

Wouldn't surprise me if the organisers politely asked the American team not to try too hard, just in case they pissed off anyone else for winning all the medals. I've signed the petition but to be honest this is the start of the end.

2016's event will non-competitive at this rate and all emotions will be outlawed just in case someone takes punching the air in victory the wrong way.

the trouble is we have no voice , i don't for one moment believe we are the minority we just don't have anybody

with the bollocks to stand up for us , we where told not to cheer our daughter on at her sports day because it makes it to competative :o i read in the papers various column writers going on about this is wrong that is wrong ,

polititions just saying there will be an investigation into the latest have a go member of the public who has been murdered

protecting his or her property , but in my opinion it is all just bullshit, words to pacify us until something different happens

and we forget yesterdays news. there is never any direct action just in case we upset somebody.

sorry for this guys i will step down off of my box now ( edit if i have gone over the top)

cheers

And lets not forget winning a medal is also not an option in case those who don't win on will feel down and humiliated.

This country is going down the pan faster than me having a dump the morning after a curry, I'm ashamed to be British, but proud to be English as us English kick butt and couldn't care too much who we offend, this is our country not their, don't like it they know how to leave.

sorry another thing that gets my goat is the fact that we welcome everyone elses cultures and traditions in this country but when we want to keep or show ours we are basicaly told we cant as it may offend maybe we should start putting our foot down (no pun intended in a sports car forum lol) because no one in this spineless pc goverment will as their to busy pleasing everyone else and finding more ways of fucking us over to extract more money out of us and slowly removing any freedom we do have, sorry rant over i feel better now
