Was wondering if it was a moment of wheel to wheel stuff. Lewis only has to stay close to Alonso now and he's the next champ.

Interesting comment Lewis made during the preamble interviews. Saying that he and the team did everything they could to make Alonso feel welcome and comfortable at the start of the year, and then he did the dirty on them.

yeah, I was thinking he might have been better to keep his mouth shut and let his driving do the talking but it seems that he is a rather special one and can back strong words up with action.

I liked the post race weighing room where the guys atcually talked to each other like you or i would after a track session. If alonso was in there it wouldnt have been quite so friendly.

It should be easy now for Lewis as i think two forth places will seal it for him.

Liz made me laugh whilst watching an interview with Kimi. She made some comment about it being a good job he went into motor racing and doesn't do work for the Samaritans. :D

Excellent result,

Anytime Alonso ends up suffering is a good day in my books - I cant stand the two faced bastid.

I thought the editing in the pre race footage was awesome..........

Alonso "We are all pushing together as a team"
Lewis "We tried our best but the blokes a cnut"
Alonso "If I mention the words team, factory and hard working they're sure to forgive me"
Lewis "At least now we can all call him a cnut, as he's shown his true colours"
Alonso "Racing is racing and that is why I try to cheat as much as I can get away with or exploit any opportunity to get an edge"
Lewis "Next time I'll know he's a cnut and treat him like one"

What struck me was the way - yet again - Lew seems able to handle almost anything that is thrown at him during a race better than pretty much everyone else who have all been doing this longer than him, whilst also making pretty much zero mistakes as he beats them all with superior performance. The guy must have a lucky streak a mile wide or his dads sold his testicles to satan !!!!

Other good points this weekend......

England finally looked like a team...............of men.....as opposed to a random bunch of teenage girls who have never seen a rugby ball before
The welsh got knocked out :D :D
The Irish got knocked out :D :D
And the french now have a date with death...........errr, sorry, I meant the All Blacks !!! :D :D

Just a shame Laytham, Giteau and the rest of those Aussie cock-polishers are gonna pound us out like cheap hamburger next weekend :( :(

Still, could be worse - we could be french !!! :D :D

Being a spaniard i was very proud to see Alonso win the world chamlionship twice....however this year, after all the McLaren shananigans and all the b*ll*x he's come out with i think he's turned out to be a right tosspot. He may be a good driver but what a tw*t, and i've gone right off him bigtime.

Lewis is an amazing race driver, and so young to be so mature in his approach to F1. He will be one of the greats, if he isn't turning out to be already, the likes of which we'll probably never see again for a very long time. Come On Lewis!!!!!

On another note.....will somebody please give Jensen Button a decent car!!!! He is definately world champion potential and has been for quite some time!! These Honda's are rubbish and have gone down the pan since they last gave up F1 in 1992. Come On Jensen!!

Actually....to see Jensen driving with Lewis as McLaren team mates would be just perfect!! :thumb:

I agree with alot of the above points:-

Alonso is a cnut and would cheat at solitaire just to beat himself.
Lewis is amazing and is mature beyond his years.
Kimi's voice would make Timmy mallet suicidal.
Jenson needs a decent car and would be great to see him along side lewis in a Mclaren.

After all the pressure and hassle that Lewis has had to put up with the last few weeks he was awesome yesterday. Even after getting shunted off the track he just pointed it in the right direction again and got on with the job. Not bad for his first "real" wet race in an F1 car. Pretty much everyone else was off the track at some point or another through their own mistakes but not Lewis. He kept it on the grey stuff and showed his true talent.

Unfortunately Jenson was not so lucky as far as reliability goes, (or was it deliberate to allow him to change engine before the next race?) He was doing very well as was Coulthard.

Anyway, a cracking race and I would go as far as to say that Alonso's chances of defending the title are looking very slim.
I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up :D

Awesome race, loving this season........Come on Lewis!

Am I the only one who would like to see a Hamilton / Button combination in a McLaren next year?

I guess not Keith as three other people have already said it before you !!! :D :D

I would also say that Jensen and Lewis together would be a great marketing idea, but in the hard financial world of Formula1 that perhaps 2 english drivers, both in their ways unproven drivers, compared to say Alonso or Kimi would possibly make sponsors nervous. The flip side is that Lewis may be World Champion by then and he is the current media maelstrom in the sport almost entirely off the back of his driving talent.

I think Jensen's performance without a nosecone just underlies what a piece of shyte the Honda is - everyone else would have been miles off the pace of the car in those circumstances but his car's so slow that he can go almost as fast with only half of it !!!! :D :D I also think he has now reached a maturity and experience level that would benefit McLaren from a setup point of view, which was the main reason Lewis's performances have dropped off of late as Alonso kept information to himself. I think the weather and probably the fact Alonso is either sharing info to try to curry favour back with the team or because he is under orders to was the main reason lewis prevailed this weekend as once he has a car that works he seems better able to get the full performance from it reliably.

I agree with Bladey.....

Also i think Jensen's personality would fit in very well with Lewis in that they would get on well, and equally Jensen has done well over a hundred GP's too and that makes for a cracking driver/test driver aiding further McLaren development work.

All that experience coupled with the fact that i think Jensen would not only be a very positive influence on Lewis, but Lewis could definately benefit from Jensen's experience and pick up on his 'oh so smooth' driving style.

I love smooth driving...Ayrton Senna was the smoothest ever and i think Jensen's style is very similar. Could be really good......If Ron Dennis is reading this and taking note that is!!!
