The paint was physically rough to touch, and whilst some of this was just surface dust and dirt, most of this was iron fallout from hard driving, long stays in workshops and then the 6 week boat trip. This has to be chemically removed in order to protect the paint and achieve a decent paint finish. I use a specifically designed prooduct that safely dissolves the iron (turning purple) so that it can be washed off after dissolving

So with cleaning and decontamination completed, it was time to get polishing the paintwork. Japanese paintwork can be soft and I bet on RS paintwork being thinner than usual , so it was careful progress to find something that would remove the stains and restore the gloss at the same time. My chosen combo of pads and compounds gave me this result with a 50/50 showing the front door stained and flat, and the rear door polished to a high gloss

The engine bay also needed cleaning, polishing and protection. A 50/50 showing how big a difference I achieved

The new wheels and tyres supplied by SCA

All shuts and surrounds were cleaned and protected

So with the interior done (no photos), engine bay tidied and exterior paintwork sorted out, the finished results look like this

Not bad for a day's work and all done safely using techniques that are safe on paint and that, on something as rare as an RS, is vital. Headlights were also restored but no photos there
