I'm lucky enough to be chosen to look after the Ross Sport fleet of vehicles and with the season finale coming up at Teesside last weekend, my services were booked for a freshen up on the Lancer X RS and the Transporter support vehicle. On the day Ross mentioned that he would like his record breaking Evo 6 (affectionately known as Sylvia) to get a once over prior to being wrapped up for winter. Well.......it would be rude not to

Evo X-RS was rinsed, washed via 2BM, rinsed again, treated for bonded contaminants, rinsed again and dried. It was hand polished to remove rubber marks from sprinting and also to remove staining from squashed bugs and the like too. The arches, tyres and alloys were cleaned and then the interior was dusted, vacuumed and shampooed. Lastly, the windscreen was sealed using Angelwax products

The Transporter received a very similar routine with the interior needing a bit more work

Completing these two took me to about 4.5 to 5 hours, with the results being quite easily achieved as they are regularly maintained by me. So it was then time to move onto the main event......the mighty Evo 6

Using the best of parts from Japan, the US, bespoke parts by Ross Sport and engineering and development support from APT, this car is Europes fastest Evo from 30-130 and also the fastest Evo up the quarter mile To work on it was a privilege

As the car was firmly rooted to the twin poster, there was no way I could use the usual wash routine so it was carefully washed in situ, using loads of microfibre clothes and a wash solution with loads of lubricity to avoid damaging the paint. Once clean and dry, it was then given a clean over with detailing spray to remove any marks and fingerprints left after washing

Arches and suspension were carefully degreased and cleaned

Before moving onto the floorpan and chassis rails

Particular attention was taken with the Momentum motorsport tubular subframe at the front and rear of the car

Next up was the engine bay. Extreme care was needed not to introduce any excess of moisture to the electronics, or induction areas. The inner wings, bulkhead and any other painted areas were cleaned and the brightwork (wastegate etc) were hand polished with metal polishes

The last thing to do was for Ross to check over every aspect to ensure he was happy with the work, and to get the car wrapped up for her winter hibernation

Thanks for your kind comments I have never know it easy with this 6, as the previous occasion I worked on it was on a set of ladders! It was in preparation for Ten of the Best (I think) and the guys were working on one end of the car, as I was polishing and sealing the other!!

I'm sure that I gain work through adopting a flexible approach (certainly doesn't do any harm)
