Red TT valeting training

Post by Stuart »

I was asked by Copperfield School to help one of their students with some work experience. As these kids need a strong hand, I was up for the challenge and agreed to work one on one with a lad, but my singular condition was that the work was on one of the staff's car's, just in case he wrecked it!! :D

The car itself was treated to just a basic valet with paintwork getting a quick all in one polish and sealant, tyres and alloys getting scrubbed and the exhaust getting cleaned along with the glass and roof. My main concern was managing the behaviour of the youngster I was working with whilst ensuring that he enjoyed it too ;) I;ll be going back in a couple of weeks for round 2!

It was a successful day and from a business point of view, I've been booked again to do the full bifta!

When he stops getting nicked by the Police and demonstrates a consistent period of not putting his fist through partition walls :D

Joking aside, the kids at Copperfield do have issues (hence my involvement) and I am keen to support the school IF I can, but only if the person concerned is 100% trustworthy around client's cars. In truth I don't expect that this lad will work with me for at least 12 months, so I'm treating this as a probation period for him. I'll invest my time and effort, he'll get some training and general behaviour stuff and maybe, maybe it will pay off.

On a kind of related note, I was asked today about expanding the business (taking on a partner if he invested in). I took it as a compliment but politely declined :)

Sod expanding mate, you'd lose the independence you've worked to hard to achieve.
