Ford 1.6 Zetec SE engine, 70k miles- £220 ONO

Post by Danny@APT »

I've decided to break my Brother's old Focus for a few parts worth selling before I send it to the scrappers, the best of which is the engine.

I had to replace his original a few years ago after a cambelt tensioner seized and snapped the belt and came across this low mileage unit which has performed faultlessly ever since- no knocks, rattles, leaks or oil burning which these engines seem to suffer from over time if used hard.

It's currently still in the car and so can be heard running. The buyer can either take away the car and remove the engine themselves, or I'll remove and ship it to them at cost. The cambelt was replaced at the same time it went into the Focus, although obviously I'd recommend a fresh belt for peace of mind.

I'll be sticking this on ebay over the weekend, but thought I'd offer it on here first. ;)

Cheers Rob. :)

The car just needs too much doing to it for MOT, with some rot in the rear doors along with various dents, a small hole in the fuel filler vent pipe, gearbox is tired (although still selects gears fine without crunching), and generally with it having over 190k on the clocks, it's just not worth messing around with anymore.

Yeah he was a delivery driver, so it soon racked up the miles.

Just checked the mileage on the clocks- 226k!

Lol, the original engine which managed the first 170k was chucked in the scrap bin ages ago- just wasn't worth stripping and replacing the bent valves as the bores weren't in the best state anyway.

Fired it up again today and it still sounds sweet as a nut. Would be a shame to just crush the lot.
