Summer nationals at santa pod.

Stuart and myself headed off today to the mighty santa pod to support Team Extreme in their weekends racing at the summer nationals.
The day started off rather bleary eyed with Stu turning up at my door bang on 7am so we could get to the pod nice and early so the Auto-genie could sprinkle his magic over the Team Extreme guys awesome cars so they could look as good as they went. :) Sadly Matts epic escort didn`t get to run today due to an oil leak on the start line i belive?
I will apologise now for my rather poor pictures as i didn`t take too many because our wonderful British summer weather kicked in and closed the track for most of the afternoon although i know thanks to a text from Stu the track re-opened about 4.30 long after i had given up and headed for home.
Even so there was so many fantastic machines running that i am sure there was something for every taste.
I realy liked this Bentley conti even if our Auto- genie felt the detailing could be improved!

If anybody that reads this have never been to see a proper drag racing event then you really have been missing out! Not only is the noise (no db limits here) and the smell something to really make the true petrol head happy but the people and atmosphere are something else. A lot of the cars running today probably cost more then my house yet the people un-like some other forms of motor sport are not stuck up. They all seem genuinely friendly with a common interest of running flat out down that strip.
I have got to say thank you to Stuart- Cheers mate! :cheers2:
And thank you so much to all the Team Extreme guys for not only making me so welcome but my family as well when they showed up later in the day just as the rain started.
As our tickets are still valid for tomorrow we will be heading back in the morning hopefully to get a full fix without the pesky British weather getting in the way. :)

Looks like some serious motors were out to play today, shame about the weather.

Nice post Russ. Was great to see you and the familia today :hurray:

The Bentley is 3000hp Maff and whilst it's not my cup of tea I have to respect the engineering integrity (even if the vehicle prep was not befitting a car of this quality). The guys behind Team Extreme, as well as the massive support from guys like Big Phil, Mark Moseley et al really do a professional job of putting together and maintaining their cars, RVs and everything else that makes the trip to racing. Their hospitality was very generous today and I was delighted to learn that Gary did such an easy 8.6 as well as Martin busting his PB with a tremendous 7.58

I left the track at about 5.45 with the pit area a buzzing hive of activity as Gary was preparing for his second qualifying run in his Supra. With more boost, more & higher octane fuel as well as nitrous means that the 8.1 that he's hit could very easily get smashed to bits if he can get enough grip.

Tomorrow looks like a better day in terms of weather. All three TE cars are fully prepped and protected once more

Shiny is fast :driving:

That Bentley is mean as hell, I remember reading a couple articles about it:
