took the day off house/garage building duties to pop over to the first sprint of the season at sunny north weald
mike phoned me the previous day to say mikey s and himself had entered

big mistake

i NEED to get back out there again and may sell the s3 to fund a suitable car evo/impreza

back to the event it was a bloody good turn out with a great mix of machinary from well prepped mini's to 260k ferrari and everything inbetween
superb weather
and yep mike b brings home another class win and 6th overall which is a terrific result in the dry with single seaters etc....
good to see some old faces for a natter including rob s

well done all that took part

well what a first event at north weald weather was amazing it was a full entry which was great and such a variety of cars, My car was virtually unchanged from last event apart from the fitting of the later map sensor new age coil packs and the car being mapped on the rollers which was such an improvement. It was nice to see trev and rob s sorry rob for the usual mistaken identity by me.

The two practise runs went as planned had a little lead over the other two impreza's and a evo 3 so plan was to get a good banker time on the board with the car set up as it was for the first timed run before lunch then I could have a play with a bit of the set up for the 2 timed runs after lunch.

On the way to the line I noticed the gear stick didn't feel right it I could lift the whole stick out of its cup which it pivots from the cir clip had gone walkies it was a ebay special that I was not happy with when I fitted it and really should of stuck with the original but this wasn't to much of an issue I thought if I just kept a little pressure on top of the stick it should be fine , it was fine until I was heading towards a metal gate at just over 100 mph that we had to go through before a tight left onto a flat out straight so flat in 4th towards it braked hard went for third and out came the stick tried to push it back in to get the pivot back by the time id done this I was way of line and the run was ruined. So back to the paddock when I got back to the paddock mike s had a issue on his run which when he was towed in his gearstick had also done the same thing.

So now I had to get my banker time on the board and just hope no one goes quicker on this run I got down to a 76.80 and my the next quickest time was a 80 .21 mike got his car fixed with the usual cable tie adaption which he said it felt the best it had been.

On the last run I wound the suspention up a few clicks it felt a lot stiffer and going to the line thought id over done it and this was going to be one hell of a ride as north weald is not known for being smooth

but the car felt so much better in the slow corners and actually handled the bumps a lot better than I thought it would I only managed to get my time down to a 76.23 on the last run which was good enough for class win and 6th overall which I was very pleased with so looks like iam going to book the next sprint with Sevenoaks on march 30th .

All the best mike

Hello mate not sure exactly but I know that no one got under 80 seconds in my class my fatest time was 76.23 which was also enough to beat bill in his Porsche gt3 by half a second , john starts just built a new evo 6 with a forged engine etc sounds a nice bit of kit and Justin Andrews has just rebuilt his impreza engine. those two are way over my horse power figure so ill have to take the wins while I can.
