Last weekend was Harrow Car Club's first Sprint meeting of the year, co-hosted with Green Belt Motor Club and held at North Weald airfield near Epping just off the M11. I opted to drive the Avon to the event as it is not that far for me and the weather was looking fine. I was unsure which class to enter for this event as I had two options, I could enter class A8 Roadgoing Kit Type Cars up to 2000cc or C13 Sports Libre Cars over 1801cc. The key difference between the two being that the former requires the car to be fully road legal, the later doesn

Great write up Matt and it sounds like you had a fun packed and eventful day all in all. It's such a shame that North Weald is as bad as it is. You would think that with all of the money that they must generate through the year (Andy Walsh, Sprints, 1/4 mile etc etc ) that they could at least tarmac the bugger!

Congrats on the prize....can't say that I am too surprised ;)

Just a few quick words to agree it was a good days Motorsport and thanks to Harrow and Greenbelt clubs

It was good to finally be out in action again, and nice to catch up face to face with warboys for the first time in ages.

It is a tough surface with the bumps, but it's a different challenge to get the best out of it with the limited grip available. I've not really done very fast corners on a loose surface before and it was exhilarating gunning it through the 3 real fast turns wondering if its going to make it or not. As always the integra is so forgiving that you just mash the foot down and wait for the diff to do its thing with the back end giving written notice a week in advance if it thinks theres not enough grip. Looking forward to hethel for a blast on a smooth surface.

I ran in the modified class this time and was able to get a class win. As always it's about personal goals and I like to see how I can fair against the 4wd and over 2 Ltrs times. With my first go on the sticky tyres this year I found there is loads more potential to unlock and I can now spend the year seeing how close I can get to gap to the ever present benchmark 911gt3 times. There's a couple of quick classic scoobies this year. Surely a bit of an incentive for the growing bigpower flat 4 fleet??
