It wasn't the beer Russ; these guys can eat like you would not believe!

A cool morning (well it was 5.30) greeted us but the excitement was like wearing your thermals! None of us could do more than string a few sentences together before we kind of glazed over, dreaming about the cars, imagining the noise and hoping for the best.
The course

The health and safety

90mph+ speeds and oak trees........one bale should do nicely!
We waited by the start line as we just couldn't believe how close you could get to the action. We genuinely got hit by bits of tyre from the launches!

The Integrale had over 600hp!

Nothing quite like seeing full on race cars roll down the street with exhausts tearing through them. The acoustics of the weekend are one of the strongest memories for me; induction screaming at you through the forests, over running exhaust banging like anti-aircraft fire and us lot laughing at how impossible the speed and performance was

More cars

Corner weights instead of corner shops

The crowds were building as we tried different viewing spots

Rear engined V6 Scirocco

Stunning Radical came nowhere in the results. Imagine that at a UK event?

I think you probably get the gist of it by now........
No fat munters pretending to be page three birds
No arseholes there apart from 'Disco-boy*' which amazed me
Non-stop 9 hours of motorsport on Saturday and then about 7 hours on Sunday for €20!
Great food, drink and accommodation
I did think I had walked into something from Dusk til Dawn when Rob suggested a new pub on Saturday, but it turned out 'Creme de la menthe' to para-quote Trev
Great company, really great company. No-one pissed me off, no-one took liberties and the common DNA of loving proper cars cemented a few friendships I think.
I feel like we had stumbled upon the biggest Motorsports secret in the World. I kept waiting for something to go wrong, it was just too good to be true; it was certainly too good to last!
I sit here now, after writing a few words and posting a few pics and I can still hear that Merc, probably about a mile away but closing in oh so fast. The impact that car (and many others) made will stay with me for years. The fact that I can look back and say that I've been to the Berg Cup is another bloody great tick against my wish list. The event won't be everyone's cup of tea and I think it's all the better for it.
That's it. I am spent
