It was good day but a few cars had oil downs right from bomb hole -start finish straight.
Car went well was struggling for grip a bit, I think toyos are well past their best
I have got some more vids from earlier in the day when it was wet also if anyones interested
I was the only rover on track again!

I was impressed (again) with how it puts the power down, especially in third and fourth gear. I know you said the tyres were staring to struggle Scott, but is the car quite light on them in terms of wear or do you find that it scrubs the fronts quite badly? It's clearly fast on corner entry and seems to be quite well balanced too, which I really like for a 300+ bhp front wheel drive.
Comments about the hand position are difficult to judge in my opinion. The camera position only shows one hand for most of the time and I know of plenty of guys with powerful front wheel drive cars that put their right hand further up the wheel than normal for........does it help with torque steer 'feel'? Who knows.......my T5's were the only car that had enough power to induce 'proper' torque steer and the rack in that was so slow it didn't matter where you put your hands
It was interesting to see the traffic on that day, and it seems to support the feedback I'd had about occasional congestion and a seemingly varied level of commitment from drivers.
Thanks for the link

No the tyres are just well used, worn down to wear bars, I've done around 4 track days and approx 1500-2000miles so not too bad.. I run a lot of camber so this doesn't help wear :-)
grip is generally good especially in wet, just struggles a bit in 2nd gear and tight bends -probably just asking a bit much from it.. maybe need to experiment more with suspension setup as I only changed it a bit from road settings.
Tyres should be ok for another trackday though as I don't use them on the road anymore.
Not really sure about hand positions -not really thought about it before -I was more worried about keeping it on the island lol -my face expressions are not much better!
cheers

The hand position comment was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment however I do recall many years ago when I had some driver tuition with a chap called Callum Lockie (Became world GT champion twice)
He said you should where possible always keep your hands in the same place on the wheel because if you lose control or start to spin if your hands are always in the same place on the wheel you should always know when the wheels are in a straight position and adjust steering angle accordingly.....
Its not a personal dig at you Scott....I also understand that not all cars have a tight lock too...
I thgought the facial expressions were ok I normally end up grunting my way round parts of the track and forget to breathe on some corners so I guess we all have our own ways.....
Looks a great little car though always good to take some expensive scalps eh ?

I have experience with Calum Lockie. Just felt like I was getting bollocked throughout!! (although I will admit, I wasn't driving very well at the time).Stuart wrote:Calum Lockie=Goldtrack=LegendA great tutor and good advice too
I was at Snetterton too on Wednesday. I parked up very close to you (silver 130i).

Heard about you and the 130i Tommy
All very complimentary mate; well done

lol It's the first time in a LOOOOONG time I haven't drifted at a trackday. I had brand new (under 300 miles) road tyres and a lack of ABS (pump has died) so I was taking it easy and really concentrating on keeping it smooth.Stuart wrote:Heard about you and the 130i TommyAll very complimentary mate; well done
