ill try ring around a few tuning company's to try find an exact (ish) answer.....

don't get me wrong, i have no problem in doing aload of miles running it in, its just this is my first engine rebuild so id like to get the running in perfect :)

as titled, how exactly do i run an engine in properly, am i right in thinking: 500 miles, max 3k revs, no boost, oil change another 500miles, half throttle, up to 5k revs, medium boost, oil change. another 500miles, can give it some. oil change job done :) how would you all run an engine in??? is th...

cheers for that gerry :) ive just rung up Scholar Engineering, im dropping off the block, pistons and rings to them tomorrow afternoon (after my speed awareness course :oops: 37 in a 30 :oops: ) they should be able to gap the rings for me, im thinking about just asking them to install them aswell, s...

ive just read the spec sheet given with the rings reguarding the gaps and i cant make much sence of it :( it says: top ring needs to be Bore x 0.0045" second ring needs to be Bore x 0.0055" oil rings need to be minimum of 0.015" i calculated it with an online convertor (mm to inches) and for the top...

cheers for all the replys guys, i think i found the problem anyhow, it looks like i had a blocked oilway, siting one of the bottom end bearings was a small bit of metal blocking flow of oil through the crank, therefore not supplying the bores with any oil, the damages piston was the last in the line...

how did the block look? looks like its been dragging. could be from a heat problem. Is it round? could be lack of oil at some point or just a number of worn parts. well the inside of the chamber is abit scored but not too badly. i cant see it been worn parts, as its only done 50k miles, but then ag...
